Tax refunds won t come as quickly in 2021 IRS explains why

Many people will be waiting for their tax refunds far longer this year than they ve come to expect, and this could be quite a shock as millions face financial hurdles during the pandemic.  On Friday, the Internal Revenue Service announced that the agency would only begin processing 2020 income tax returns as of Feb. 12. The official kickoff for tax season will be more than two weeks later than last year s start.  So anyone who is looking to pay bills and get a tax refund in early February is out of luck. Retailers who bank on a flood of cash from tax refunds early in the year to fuel consumer spending will face challenges, too.
