Mississippi’s First Wind Farm By Becky Gillette For many years, Mississippi was considered to lack enough consistent and strong winds to generate electricity from wind turbines. But now, not only has wind turbine technology improved, but so has the understanding of where to catch the best wind. Currently a private company has built the country’s second highest weather tower in Tunica County in order to collect data to be used to establish a proposed $250-million wind farm. Tunica Wind Power LLC plans to operate the first wind farm in the state. Presley “We are excited to see this development happening in Tunica County,” says Tunica County Administrator Dr. Billy J. Willis. “It will create more jobs and more economic development for the county as a whole.”

Ambassadors, ministers and other key political figures from Turkey and Greece met at Dolmabahce Office in Istanbul Greece and Turkey have held their first direct talks in nearly five years over their acrimonious eastern Mediterranean standoff. The 61st round of discussions between the neighbors and fellow NATO members took place in Istanbul on Monday. There is some anticipation that the meeting could help thaw the frosty relationship between the two countries. The consultations were described as exploratory, with the expectation for more formal meetings to follow.
