Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker plans to raise capacity for gyms, restaurants and several other industries to 40% next week, MassLive has learned.
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, restaurants will be able to increase the number of customers they can serve at a time, according to an email sent state officials sent to local boards of health.
The state also plans to raise the capacity limits for arcades, driving and flight schools, gyms, libraries, museums, retailers, offices, places of worship, hotel common areas and indoor golf. Movie theaters can also allow more customers in, but they are capped at 50 people.

Gov. Charlie Baker announced that more than 35,000 new COVID-19 vaccination appointments would go live Thursday at sites across the state, but added that many of them have already been booked.
The new appointments included 20,000 at the Fenway Park and Gillette Stadium mass vaccination sites, he said, all of which are already spoken for.
Another 15,000 vaccination appointments were added at mass vaccination sites in Danvers and Springfield, and those were still in the process of being booked as of midday Thursday. While cases are rising, so is the struggle to sign up to get a coronavirus vaccine in Massachusetts.
