New Delhi: The government will ensure its record FY22 borrowing programme doesn’t crowd out the private sector if credit demand picks up, economic affairs secretary Tarun Bajaj told ET in an interview, adding that the Centre will soon engage with international credit rating agencies on the budget that was announced on Monday. He expects the services sector to bounce back sharply as the Covid vaccine programme is rolled out across the country.

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be presenting India s budget for the third time. The Budget session of the Parliament will begin on January 29 with the address of President Ram Nath Kovind. And, on February 1, FM Sitharaman will be presenting the Budget in the Parliament. The budget session will be held in two parts from January 29 to February 15 and March 8 to April 8.

As part of a major top-level bureaucratic reshuffle effected on Wednesday, Urban Development Secretary Rajiv Gauba was named as the next Home Secretary.
He will succeed Rajiv Mehrishi, who completes his term on August 30. A total of 16 secretaries have been appointed to various central government departments. The government has changed portfolios of a few secretaries in this rejig.
