ISLAMABAD: The PTI s parliamentary board has decided to stick with its earlier decision of nominating MNA Faisal Vawda as its candidate for the upcoming Senate elections from Sindh, rejecting protests by the party s provincial leadership.
Sources informed
Geo News that the decision was taken during a meeting of the parliamentary board chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan. Protests by workers who had earlier took a stand against Vawda s candidacy were rejected, according to sources.
Senate race heats up as nominees file papers

A total of 78 candidates of all political parties, including the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, on Saturday filed their nomination papers with the Election Commission of Pakistan for the Senate elections scheduled for March 3.
Earlier in the day, Science and Technology Minister Fawad Chaudhry tweeted a list containing names of 20 candidates, including Abdul Qadir for Balochistan, but later, Special Assistant to the PM on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill tweeted that Qadir has been replaced with Zahoor Agha.
“Senate ticket from Balochistan is being withdrawn from Qadir Sahib and being issued to Zahoor Agha. The captain always listens to his party workers,” Gill tweeted.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The committee which is conducting a probe against vote trading by some members of provincial assembly (MPAs) in Senate election of 2018 has decided to summon the journalist who released the video .
The committee comprises of Federal Minister Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry, Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari, and Advisor to Prime Minister on Accountability Shahzad Akbar.
The committee has decided to investigate those who benefited from the votes and vowed to expose people who provided funds for buying of votes.
PTI takes back Balochistan Senate ticket from Abdul Qadir after members cry foul

PTI on Saturday took back the Balochistan Senate ticket previously awarded to Abdul Qadir after the decision received flak from the party s leaders.
According to
Dawn, Abdul Qadir is a business tycoon affiliated with the construction industry .
Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill, in a tweet, said that the party had reversed its decision and now the Balochistan ticket had been allotted to Zahoor Agha. The kaptaan (skipper) always listens to his people, the prime minister s aide said.
The party issued the final list of its candidates today for the upcoming Senate elections after approval by Prime Minister Imran Khan.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Imran Khan has formed a committee to investigate horse-trading during Senate elections in 2018 after a video of lawmakers taking bribe surfaced.
A three-member committee, comprising Fawad Chaudhry, Shireen Mazari and Shahzad Akbar, will conduct a thorough probe against vote trading by some members of provincial assembly (MPAs).
The committee is to ascertain the facts against those involved and will forward its recommendations to Prime Minister.
It is pertinent to mention here that a video of horse-trading during Senate elections in 2018 by some provincial lawmakers has emerged who can be seen counting bundles of notes and putting them inside a bag.
