TUDCN News Trade unions in Africa, Asia-Pacific and the Americas set their SDG priorities for recovery and resilience The Trade Union Development Cooperation Network has organised a series of regional webinars set unions’ SDG priorities for recovery and resilience ahead of the upcoming HLPF and to strengthen their collaboration with the ILO-ACTRAV and the United Nations’ Resident Coordinators at regional and national level. 20-04-2021 Organised in February and March, the three webinars offered an opportunity to national and regional trade union representatives to exchange with UN representatives and other key stakeholders on ways of improving unions’ participation in the UN-led sustainable development processes undertaken at national level.

SDG 16 as the roadmap to respond to Covid-19 and build back better, 28-30 April 2021. Dr. Kevin Casas-Zamora, International IDEA Secretary-General will participate in the plenary session on 29 April, 14:00-15:30 CEST to address the pandemic´s impact on democracy. In general, the conference will consider the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on SDG 16 as well as the transformative contribution SDG 16 can make in helping to safeguard and accelerate progress on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It will contribute to the deliberations of the 2021 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF), while aligning itself to the vision for the United Nations System and the wider international system in the years to come as mandated by the Declaration on the 75th Anniversary of the Organization.

Seventh session of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development | United Nations Economic Commission for Africa

Background The aim of the Africa Regional Forum on Sustainable Development is to advance integrated implementation of the 2030 Agenda and Agenda 2063, which are mutually reinforcing. To that end, the Regional Forum provides a multi-stakeholder platform for follow-up and review of progress and challenges in the implementation of the two Agendas, while strengthening learning and advocating effective policy measures and actions. The Regional Forum makes important contributions to bolstering multi-stakeholder engagement and synergies, and promoting concerted efforts to implement and achieve the development objectives of the two Agendas.
