Ban on plastic in city: Raids on shops yield 1,350 kg banned material

Mysore/Mysuru: Following strict implementation of plastic ban order from Apr. 5 to make the district plastic-free, a few traders in city were still found indulging in selling the banned item which was causing harm to the environment.
Keeping this in mind, the officials of
Mysuru City Corporation (MCC), who conducted raids on such shops and houses in city, were the illegal material was stored, have seized a total of 1,350 kg of banned plastics and have collected a total of Rs. 30,000 as fines. The raids were conducted on shops and a house at Santhepet on Tuesday.

Bengaluru, March 17 : Karnataka will set up a single-window agency to issue no objection certificates (NoCs) to start mines and quarries within 90 days of receiving the application, Mines and Geology Minister Murugesh R. Nirani said here on Wednesday.
Addressing the safety workshop organised by the Stone Quarry Owners Association here, he said that the liberalised mining policy will create an investor-friendly atmosphere and make Karnataka an easier place to do business.

SRINAGAR: Anti Corruption Bureau received a written complaint from the complainant alleging therein that he is running a joinery mill at Saloora Ganderbal . He had applied online for NOC from Pollution Control Board in November, 2019. Subsequently ,a field Inspector, namely, Aabid Ahmad visited his unit for spot inspection. Later on, the District Officer, Pollution Control Board, Ganderbal prepared a report wherein he mentioned that the complainant has not applied for NOC with the result his unit was closed.
District Officer Pollution Control Board Ganderbal, namely, Mohammad Ashraf Khanday alongwith Field Inspector, namely, Aabid Ahmad were demanding an amount of Rs.20,000/- as bribe in instalments within a period of one month for withdrawal of closure order which was issued by them on their report.
