Everyone Into The Pool !

Jun 13, 2021 | 10:10 AM GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The Resch Aquatic Center in Green Bay opened for the season Saturday after taking last year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For now, it’s the only city pool that will be open. Joannes Aquatic Center and Colburn Pool will remain closed as the city looks to hire more lifeguards. City officials say they’re prepared to handle extra people at Resch. However, they’re working hard to open up the other pools. “Hopefully even by next weekend we might have a second pool open depending on how this first batch of lifeguard training goes and how many we can get certified,” said Ann Moeller, Recreation Supervisor for the City of Green Bay.

It s really pretty precious : Spokane savors local pools re-opening

SPOKANE, Wash. Last year, spring and summer looked quite a bit different. Pools were closed, and many typical activities didn’t happen. Now, Spokane is preparing to re-open pools and welcome the community back. “It’s really pretty precious,” said Ellen Smith, who was swimming laps at Witter pool on Tuesday. “Having access to the pool after not having access to them for well over a year, being able to get back into a training regime for triathlon training, it’s hard to put into words.” Smith loves coming to the pools because she competes in sprint triathlons and feels safer swimming at a pool than in a lake by herself. Witter Pool is already open for adult lap swim sessions, and the city plans to open all six pools this summer. Open swim at all the pools will kick off July 5.

Pueblo West Metro district, community members clean litter in community

Long-term Pueblo West resident Lori Burner worked alongside her husband Cecil, the Pueblo West Metro District Parks and Recreation and Streets and Roads, and volunteers to hold a community clean up event April 28. Burner said the idea for the clean up came to her because she’s noticed an alarming amount of litter within the community over the years. “I was born in 1930 and Colorado was considered the most beautiful state,” Burner said. “We had signs all over that said, ‘Littering is a fine.’ People didn’t litter because you were fined quite a bit of money. Now I look at Pueblo West, the whole state even, and it’s horrible. Nothing is being done.”
