The Canadiens announced Friday morning that they have called up forward Cole Caufield from the AHL’s Laval Rocket and put him on the taxi squad.
However, Caufield will not be in the lineup Friday night when the Canadiens play the Calgary Flames at the Bell Centre (6 p.m., TSN2, RDS, TSN 690 Radio, 98.5 FM).

The Canadiens have also called up goalie Cayden Primeau from the Rocket on an emergency basis and he will back up Jake Allen against the Flames.

Adam Gaudette went from promising prospect to seriously suspect in the eyes of Vancouver Canucks management in a pretty short amount of time. The Canucks traded Gaudette before the trade deadline today, appearing to give up on the former Hobey Baker Award winner.
Selected by the Canucks as a fifth-round draft pick in 2015, Gaudette blossomed at Northeastern University in the three years that followed. The Braintree, Massachusetts, product showed promise during his first pro season, with 11 points in 14 games with the Utica Comets and 12 points in 56 NHL games with Vancouver.
Last season looked to be Gaudette’s coming out party, as he produced 33 points (12-21-33) in 59 games. That’s a 46-point pace had he played 82 games.

Montreal Canadiens prospect Cole Caufield is this year s Hobey Baker Award winner as the top player in the NCAA.
Caufield was announced as the winner on Friday, getting the nod over North Dakota forward Shane Pinto and Minnesota State goaltender Dryden McKay.
