PETALING JAYA (THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK) - The first batch of the CoronaVac vaccine has arrived in Malaysia, with the vaccine expected to be processed into more than 300,000 doses.
Developed by Sinovac Life Sciences Co, the vaccines had journeyed from the plant in Beijing, China, and have arrived in bulk totalling 200 litres.
The vaccines touched down at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) at 9am on Saturday (Feb 27) on flight MH319 which was operated by MASKargo.
The batch of vaccines was flown in on an Airbus 300 passenger-to-cargo flight, and will be taken to the Pharmaniaga manufacturing facility where it will be bottled.

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb. 27 (Xinhua) The first batch of COVID-19 vaccines made by the Chinese biopharmaceutical company Sinovac Biotech arrived in Malaysia on Saturday, boosting the country s capability in the fight against the pandemic.
The arrival of Sinovac s CoronaVac vaccines was greeted by Malaysia s Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong, Foreign Minister Hishammuddin Hussein, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin as well as the Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
Ambassador Ouyang handed over the vaccines to Minister Ismail Sabri, who represented the Malaysian side in a brief ceremony following the arrival.

LRT3 firms want govt s help as Tajuddin-led Prasarana withholds RM700m payments

The top executives of 17 contractors and consulting firms involved in the LRT3 project have turned to the government for help as they are owed more than RM700 million for work done since July and this amount is expected to break RM1 billion this month.
According to a joint-letter which the companies sent to Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz and Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong today, they said Prasarana has not paid them for the work done on the LRT3 project since July and that they are now facing difficulty to continue with the rail construction.
