Ainsworth Village A PEDESTRIAN crossing could be installed on a busy village road. Residents living in Ainsworth are being asked for their views on the proposals as part of the Safe Streets Save Lives initiative. The village has been chosen as one of five separate new controlled crossings throughout Bury. The sites chosen are key locations across the borough where residents have specifically requested such facilities should be considered for introduction following an online “Common Place” public consultation exercise this time last year. A number of villagers have for some time called for traffic calming measures to be installed on the road, saying that cars can often race down the road.

People in Stockport are fuming about paperless bus timetables - the techy alternative isn t for everyone
Paper copies of the bus schedules will be removed from bus stations and Travelshops as part of the eco-friendly pilot also being trialed in Oldham.

Many residents in Stockport say they are angry after plans to trial online bus timetables were announced.
Instead of the traditional leaflet-style timetable, passengers will be able to scan a QR code on their mobile phone which will take them to a web page containing up-to-date information about which services will be arriving and when.
Bosses at Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) say it will mean passengers getting live and more accurate information about services, as well as reducing paper waste.
