With major hospitals in Metro Manila and nearby areas operating beyond full capacity, the Department of Transportation (DOTr), together with the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), are converting two of their quarantine facilities into isolation facilities to accommodate more COVID-19 patients by tomorrow, Friday ( April 9).
These are the Eva Macapagal Super Terminal in Pier 15, Manila and the Port of Capinpin Quarantine Facility in Orion, Bataan.
The DOTr Maritime Sector currently manages the two facilities, which the Lopez Group of Companies donated.

Updated March 16, 2021 7:09pm By TED CORDERO, GMA News San Miguel Corp. (SMC) on Tuesday claimed that the Toll Regulatory Board’s (TRB) inaction on its long-delayed request to start collecting fees for motorists’ use of the Skyway Stage 3 had prompted it to announce the indefinite closure of the 18-kilometer elevated highway, which it later on withdrew. In a statement, San Miguel president Ramon Ang said there was a “misunderstanding” between the company’s infrastructure unit and the TRB. San Miguel is the concession holder of the Metro Manila Skyway system through San Miguel Infrastructure. The TRB, meanwhile, is an inter-agency body composed of the Department of Transportation, Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Finance, National Economic Development Authority, and a representative from the private sector.
The Toll Regulatory Board has denied issuing a directive to close Skyway Stage 3, contradicting an earlier announcement made by the San Miguel Corporation (SMC).
