No work no pay, Govt. warns staff
Mysore/Mysuru: With the Government rejecting the demands of
KSRTC employees who have sought implementation of the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission among others, the Employee Unions of all the four State-run Transport Corporations KSRTC, BMTC, NWKRTC and NEKRTC will go on an indefinite strike from tomorrow (Apr. 7).
Meanwhile, State Government has warned striking KSRTC employees of ‘No work no pay.’
With Transport Unions calling for an indefinite strike, KSRTC bus services will be badly affected from tomorrow. However, the Government said it has planned an alternative transport mechanism across the State to ensure that commuters are not inconvenienced by the strike.

The National Chairman for Alliance of Drivers, Alhaji Siaka Yahaya is unhappy over the rate of armed robberies.
He said the robbers harass drivers who ply the Kumasi-Bawku highways. To curb the situation, he appealed to President Akufo-Addo to increase police petrols on the highways.
In an interview with our correspondent, Alhaji Siaka who also doubles as the Kumasi-Tafo branch chairman of the Ghana Private Road & Transport Union (GPRTU) disclosed that the highway robbers, especially during the odd hours consistently attack drivers and passengers.
According to the chairman, since last year 2020, many drivers have fallen prey to the barbaric and fradly trick of robbers on the road, leading to number of drivers and passengers losing lives, monies and person belongings.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has commissioned the first-ever Computerized Vehicle Inspection Center in Abia State with a charge to the operators to make the facility an enabler that would support growth of transport business in the state.
Commissioning the facility in Aba, Governor Ikpeazu said the transport business should not be an obstacle to the economic development of the State
The Governor stated that a good transport system enhances trade and commerce, economic development and investment, and charged transporters to be good ambassadors of the State.
He noted that the facility has placed Abia State on the map of modern economic development.
Lives are at sake and protecting lives are important and crucial at this time when the entire world is struggling to cope with the situation of COVID-19 Pandemic cases upsurge.
