Port Clinton has been a small city with big ideas of late, and many of those plans are coming to fruition. As the downtown area continues to evolve, with Madison Street retail renovations in the works and The Art Garage opening on West Perry Street, Port Clinton City Council has given the green light to the long-sought Waterfront Walkway on the east bank of the Portage River.

This week Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced $100.8 million in federal transportation funding would be invested in local road and bridge improvements and sidewalk and trail projects.
Clay County, receiving $1 million, and Brazil, receiving $620,568.13, are receiving a slice of the pie. (Rural communities were invited to submit project applications to INDOT for potential funding during a call for projects announced in October 2020.)
Brazil Mayor Brian Wyndham and Clay County Commissioner Paul Sinders were pleased with the announcement, with both citing the funds will be used to pave local roads.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) â One of the main gateways into downtown Hattiesburg is about to get receive an upgrade, with the first phase of the project funded by a $1.4 million federal transportation grant.
The Gordonâs Creek Commons will provide another route into the downtown area, running along the perimeter of one of Hattiesburgâs major natural resources.
âIt has long been a vision for our city to transform Gordonâs Creek from an unsightly drainage ditch to an amenity that can enhance the quality of life in neighborhoods across the city,â Hattiesburg Mayor Toby Barker said during the projectâs announcement Thursday.
