After more than 20 years, the Standard Hotel in West Hollywood permanently closes.
The Standard Hotel, a mainstay destination on the Sunset Strip, has closed after 22 years. Formerly owned by the hotelier André Balazs, who also owns the nearby Chateau Marmont, the Standard embraced showbusiness with interiors created by the film set designer Shawn Hausman. This tower was developed by Bosa Properties and designed by Henriquez Partners Architects as one of the visual gateways into the downtown core along the West Georgia Corridor from Stanley Park.
It is considered as one of the starchitect designs in the growing cluster of innovative and unique tower architecture in the general area of the northwest corner of the West End and the southwest corner of Coal Harbour.

The LEED Gold green building’s main defining feature is its deeply angled, v-shapes of white steel that also serve the functional purpose of providing shading and privacy for the homes, and reducing solar heat gain. The origami-like shapes were inspired by seagulls and the hang gliders on Grouse Mountain.

The proposal calls for a 385-ft-tall, 34-storey west tower and a 345-ft-tall, 30-storey east tower with 401 condominium homes. The unit mix is 12 studios, 160 one-bedroom units, 199 two-bedroom units, and 30 units with at least three bedrooms.
Residents will have access to various amenity spaces, including a 15,000-sq-ft amenity space such as a swimming pool, fitness rooms, and residential lounge in the upper levels of the podium.
Within the first two levels of the building, there will be 14,700 sq ft of retail and restaurant space and a 4,100-sq-ft childcare facility with a capacity for up to 24 children.
