Voter registration deadline approaches
Friday, March 12 will be the last day to apply for voter registration in order to be eligible to vote in the April 6 Board of Education and Municipality General Election, Pottawatomie County Election Board Secretary Jeannie Stover said.
Stover said that persons who are United States citizens, residents of Oklahoma, and at least 17 ½ years old are eligible to apply for voter registration. However, you must be at least 18 years old to vote.
Applications must be received by the county election board or postmarked no later than midnight, March 12. Applications postmarked after that time will be accepted, but will not be processed until after the April 6 election.

Voters will go to the polls Tuesday, March 2, for the I-117 Maud Public School Bond, Pottawatomie County Election Board Secretary Jeannie Stover said.
Please keep the following information and tips in mind as the election approaches.
• Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Lines are possible at peak voting times. Wait times will likely be shortest at mid-morning and mid-afternoon. Anyone in line to vote at 7 p.m. will be allowed to cast a ballot.
• Anyone who needs to look up their polling place, verify their registration information, or view a sample ballot can do so online. The Online Voter Tool can be accessed on the Oklahoma State Election Board’s website: www.elections.ok.gov. Those who vote by mail can also check the status of their ballot using the Online Voter Tool. Sample ballots are also available at the county election board office.

Starting Monday, Feb. 1 at 8 a.m., a three-day candidate filing period begins for interested persons to file Declarations of Candidacy for municipal office seats up for election in several Pottawatomie County municipalities.
According to Jeannie Stover, secretary of the Pottawatomie County Election Board, the filing period ends at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3.
Declarations of Candidacy will be accepted at the County Election Board office located at 14101 Acme Road in Shawnee for the indicated offices for the following municipalities:
Asher: Three trustees for a four-year term ending in 2025.
Bethel Acres: Ward 2 trustee for a four-year term ending in 2025 and Ward 4 trustee for a four-year term ending in 2025.
