Coca-Cola Beverages South Africa and the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition on Friday announced a new B-BBEE scheme at the company.
The scheme, effective of May 2021, will see workers increase their ownership in the company and have board representation.
Trade, Industry and Competition Minister Ebrahim Patel has encouraged other companies to follow the same route to establish more inclusive firms.

A total of R20.13 billion is to be invested in South Africa by the Ford Motor Company and its suppliers for the production of the new Ranger and a bakkie for Volkswagen at Fordâs assembly plant in Silverton in Pretoria and the adjacent Tshwane Automotive Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
Andrea Cavallaro, director of operations at Fordâs International Markets Group, on Tuesday said the investment will create 1 200 jobs at the Silverton plant to increase Fordâs workforce to 5 500 at the plant and add a further 10 000 jobs to the already 50 000 jobs across Fordâs local supply network.

Defence and Military Veterans Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula.
In addition to being a National Coronavirus Command Council (NCCC) member, Defence and Military Veterans Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula has been appointed to the inter-ministerial committee (IMC) on vaccination, the newest weapon in government’s arsenal against the war on COVID-19.
She and 13 other Cabinet ministers will, under the leadership of deputy president David Mabuza, “receive reports and intervene in challenges that may be encountered during implementation” of the national vaccine roll-out, according to as GCIS (Government Communication and Information System) statement issued after Tuesday’s (19 January’s) special Cabinet meeting. The meeting was called to discuss an NCCC progress report.

Poor coordination and internal bureaucracy delayed the distribution of the CPAP ventilators by months.
“I am blown away by them,” said Professor Justin Jonas about the Gift of the Givers, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) currently distributing CPAP oxygen delivery devices across the country. Jonas described his relief after meeting with the NGO’s regional manager. “I was literally in tears because of the frustration that we’ve had over nine months: working our butts off, getting these devices done – and then no uptake… was just absolutely disheartening.”
