When 2021 started, I knew it was coming: March.
That month, which had previously only marked sweet milestones for me birthdays, celebrations, those first and fleeting warm days of early spring felt infinitely heavier this year.
I knew this March would mark one year since COVID-19 reached Colorado and most of our lives changed seemingly overnight.
But how do you convey that in a story? There’s no way to wrap a full year of fear, uncertainty, pain and hope into a neat little package. There are no words to summarize what our community has been through trust me, I’ve written thousands of them.
Three University of Wyoming students, including one from Fort Collins, died in a crash near the Colorado-Wyoming border Saturday night.
The three students were killed in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 287 several miles south of the Wyoming border late Saturday night, according to a statement from University of Wyoming President Ed Seidel. Words fail us, as they simply can’t express our sadness, Seidel said in his statement. Our hearts are broken for the families, their friends and our entire community.
The students killed in the crash were:

Original: An 18-year-old woman has been identified as the person killed in a Fort Collins homicide over the weekend.
Danielle Hopton of Fort Collins died Sunday at UCHealth s Medical Center of the Rockies, the Larimer County Coroner s Office reported Wednesday. The coroner s office ruled her death a homicide. Her cause of death will be released at a later time.
