The Poudre School District Board of Education unanimously approved a resolution Tuesday night recommending the Colorado Department of Education not hold CMAS testing this spring.
CMAS, which stands for Colorado Measures of Academic Success, is a standardized test given to students in grades 3-8 and 11 to gauge student success in meeting academic standards before moving on to the next grade.
The Colorado Department of Education also suspended standardized testing last school year due to COVID-19.
While the board stated in the resolution it believes schools should be held accountable to the public for providing rigorous and effective academic programing to (d)istrict students, standardized testing should not be required this year due to disruptions in learning caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
