FORMER MAYOR: Kagiso Thutlwe
The once-controversial City Mayor, Kagiso Thutlwe who was popularly referred to as ‘Vho Mayor’ has gone off the limelight since losing elections in 2019.
Thutlwe was in office for only one term before the Botswana Democratic Party reclaimed the mayoral chain.

Q. How has life been since you left office?
Life post the mayoral office has been good.
I’ve been focusing more on spending time with family.
It has also been a perfect and opportune time to give more time to business adventures.

Last year, Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF) launched a recruitment drive and registration of new party members. With the party Patron Former President Ian Khama at the forefront, the party traversed the length and breadth of the country wooing and receiving new members to its fold. The intensive recruitment beared fruit as a week hardly went by without the party receiving new members at the expense of ruling Botswana Democratic Party.

AP wants united opposition for 2024 elections

Vice president of Alliance for Progressives (AP) Wynter Mmolotsi said the party is confident that opposition will emerge victorious in 2024 elections to dethrone ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
In an interview on Friday, Mmolotsi who is also the only AP MP for Francistown South said that the party regional congresses are going well as the party is geared for opposition cooperation talks. He noted that AP is committed to work with Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) and Botswana Patriotic Change (BPF) emphasizing that the united opposition stand a chance to defeat the BDP.
