JOHANNESBURG - Botswana is investigating the deaths of two elderly people who had been given AstraZeneca s COVID-19 vaccine.
Millions of doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine have been safely administered around the world.
Botswana has recorded around 40,000 coronavirus cases and 630 deaths during the pandemic.
The country has advised the public to remain calm and that all those recovering from recent severe illnesses should consider delaying getting the vaccine.
The matter has been referred to the Botswana Medicines Regulatory Authority.

The cause of the death of two elderly people from separate districts and its relationship with the vaccine were under the immediate investigation of the Botswana Medicines Regulatory Authority, the ministry said in a press release.
