Police grab heroin, ketamine in raids

The Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB) police seized about 300 kilogrammes of ketamine in a raid on a warehouse in Nonthaburi and 200kg of heroin in a subsequent search of a rented house in Huai Khwang district, in the early hours of yesterday, deputy national police chief Pol Gen Manu Mekmok said.
About 1am, police raided a warehouse in tambon Thawi Watthana in Sai Noi district, Nonthaburi.
They found and seized 39 sacks labelled flour, about 850kg in total. On close examination, a smaller bag of ketamine was found hidden in every sack of flour. About 300kg of ketamine was collected from the 39 sacks.

Authorities said on Tuesday that just over one gramme of ketamine had been found in a seizure that police had initially believed contained over 12 tonnes of the drug worth almost US$1 billion (30 billion baht).
Wichai Chaimongkol, secretary-general of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB), told a news conference 12.1 tonnes of the haul contained trisodium phosphate a chemical which can be used as a food additive and cleaning agent.
