GEORGE TOWN: A syndicate that processed illegal medicine has been crippled, with police arresting four people and seizing products worth RM14mil in the state.
State police chief Comm Datuk Sahabudin Abd Manan said the syndicate, which had been active since early this year, was busted during a special operation jointly conducted by Bukit Aman and the state Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department) in collaboration with the state Health Department and Chemistry Department.
Comm Sahabudin said the suspects, including the syndicate’s mastermind, were detained during raids on a factory in Bukit Mertajam and a shop in Butterworth.
The police had initially received information that drugs were being processed at the factory. But during a raid there at 10am on Dec 24, police found illegal pills and traditional medicine.

JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested four men and seized drugs and vehicles worth RM1.1mil during a series of raids in Muar and Johor Baru.
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said that the suspects were local men aged from 30 to 41 who were syndicate transporters and storage keepers, delivering drugs to Indonesia. The raid was conducted between 6.30pm on Dec 26 and 6.30am on Dec 27 by Marine Police Region II and the Johor police Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID).

GEORGE TOWN, Dec 28 Penang police busted a syndicate processing unregistered medicines after arresting two brothers and a married couple and seizing various types of medicines worth RM14 million in two raids, near here, Thursday.
Penang police chief Datuk Sahabudin Abd Manan said the raids were conducted in Bukit Mertajam and Butterworth jointly by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department, Penang State Health Department (JKNPP) and the Malaysian Chemistry Department Penang.
Many complaints lodged over police not taking action

KUALA LUMPUR – The Department of Integrity and Compliance Standards (JIPS) of the Royal Malaysia Police received many complaints from the public on the police not discharging their responsibilities as law enforcers in the country.
Bukit Aman JIPS director Datuk Zamri Yahya said the cases that were allegedly not taken action, included against drug trafficking and gambling syndicates, despite reports lodged.

He said there were complaints of police chiefs not taking action over reports lodged by the public and allowed the crime to happen in their respective areas.
There are claims of district police chiefs who conspired with drug trafficking and gambling syndicates, and getting rewards for that, but when we checked, no reports (on drug trafficking and illegal gambling) were lodged in the affected areas, he told Bernama.
