Dana White Claims McGregor/Poirier III Was Nearly Scrapped

According to UFC President Dana White, there was a very real chance that fans could have lost out on the trilogy fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier.
Last week, Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier were involved in a very public and very personal dispute about a $500,000 donation that McGregor promised to send Poirier’s Good Fight Foundation. The issue? The money never arrived, as Poirier disclosed on social media.
McGregor would give his side of the story, stating that the donation had not been provided due to Team Poirier’s failure to provide a breakdown of how the funds would be allocated. Before long, McGregor’s temper spun out of control to the point of the Irishman calling off the entire fight and issuing an open challenge for someone to take Poirier’s place at UFC 264.

McGregor was expected to fight Dustin Poirier in a trilogy that would headline the upcoming UFC 264 pay-per-view event taking place July 10.
However, with the whole ongoing saga regarding his donation to Poirier’s Good Fight Foundation, it appears all good will is lost as McGregor called off the trilogy and recently asked fans who they’d like to see him fight instead.
“Not a better time than now! Everyone else is booked, let’s go! July 10th @danawhite @seanshelby @ufc”

Conor McGregor is his keeping his options open.
Doubt has been cast over a reported trilogy bout between McGregor and rival Dustin Poirier amid a public dispute over McGregor allegedly reneging on a six-figure donation that was to be made to Poirier’s Good Fight Foundation charity. It was Poirier who first mentioned on Twitter that McGregor’s team had yet to come through with the $500,000 that was to be donated to the organization following their rematch at UFC 257 in January, which led to an incensed McGregor calling Poirier a “inbred hillbilly” and threatening that their upcoming UFC 264 fight on July 10 “is off.”

“The Notorious” Conor McGregor seems to have subtly doubled down on his fight with Dustin Poirier being off.
Over the past two days, Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier have engaged in a fiery public dispute over the $500,000 donation that McGregor promised yet never sent to Poirier’s Good Fight Foundation. Poirier claims that he was given the cold shoulder by McGregor’s team whenever he reached out to finalize the donation, and McGregor responded by stating he was still waiting to receive plans from Poirier’s team on how his money would be spent.

Dustin Poirier has taken it upon himself to put Conor McGregor on full blast ahead of their UFC 264 trilogy fight.
During the build-up to the second McGregor vs. Poirier fight at UFC 257, an observation made by fans and spectators was that McGregor was much friendlier than he has been in fight buildups of the past. He behaved in a similar fashion ahead of his previous bout against Donald Cerrone at UFC 246, but fans and media still made note of this meeker, more sportsmanlike side of the charismatic Irishman ahead of UFC 257.
