Even more new flights coming to Bangor, Portland airports

By Staff The state’s two largest airports, which in recent weeks have both announced new commercial flight services, are adding even more. American Airlines on Wednesday said it will begin flying nonstop from Bangor International Airport to hubs at Dallas-Fort Worth and Miami, while Southwest Airlines has said it will expand service between Portland International Jetport and Chicago Midway. Saturday service between Bangor and Miami is scheduled to begin at the end of June and run through Labor Day, Sept. 6, according to a news release. Flights to and from Dallas-Fort Worth will begin as Saturday-only service on July 3, and then go daily from mid-August to Nov. 6.

TSA: Passenger volume is steadily rising at New England airports

The TSA has screened more than two million passengers at the following six major New England airports since Jan. 1: Logan International Airport in Boston, Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, Conn., T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, R.I., Portland International Jetport in Portland, Maine, Manchester-Boston Regional Airport in Manchester, N.H., and Burlington International Airport in Burlington, Vermont. The rise in New England passengers is mirroring flight activity across the country, according to the TSA. On April 2, the TSA reported 22 straight days of at least one million passengers screened nationwide. In comparison, between March 16 and December of 2020, passenger volume only reached one million 14 times nationwide.

Frontier adds more summer flights to and from Portland The discount airline is adding Philadelphia, Atlanta and Myrtle Beach flights to the roster of seasonal routes at the Portland International Jetport. Share Frontier Airlines will add to a growing number of new seasonal flights scheduled for the Portland International Jetport this year. The discount carrier will fly nonstop a few days a week between Portland and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Atlanta and Philadelphia. The first flights will start in June. Frontier’s new routes come close on the heels of new seasonal and year-round nonstop flights to and from the jetport by other carriers including United Airlines, American Airlines and Delta Air Lines.
