PLOVER, Wis. (AP) - One person has died and four others have been injured in what police describe as an altercation in central Wisconsin early Monday.
Officers were dispatched about 1 a.m. on a report of a disturbance in Plover. At the scene they found one man dead and another male with an apparent gunshot wound, according to police. He was alert and conscious and taken to the hospital.
Two additional males and a female suffered various injuries in the altercation. Two of the three individuals were transported to medical facilities, Chief Daniel Ault said in a statement.

Stevens Point, WI (WSAU) â The Stevens Point Police Department arrested a 55 year old man early this morning after a standoff in a home in the 700 block of Johns Drive. It came after shots were reported after the home and another man and a woman were able to leave the building earlier.
According to a press release from the Stevens Point PD:
The Stevens Point Police Department initially got called to the 700 block of Johns Drive for a disturbance between two males. The caller stated guns shots were heard prior to the disturbance but no one was injured. The male suspect remained in the residence while a male and female departed. When officers arrived the male suspect refused to come out, barricaded himself in the apartment. Phone contact was eventually made with the suspect who was very agitated, continuing to refuse to come out of the house, making threats for officers to have to shoot him.

KENT, Ohio (WOIO) - The man accused of shooting two Kent police officers after breaking into a Kent home was indicted by the Portage County Grand Jury.
Dante Dixon, 40, was indicted on two charges of felonious assault on police officers and one charge of aggravated burglary and having weapons under disability.
Prosecutors said Dixon has an extensive criminal history and was just released from prison.
Kent police said Dixon broke into a home in the 1500 block of E. Summit Street where a 14-year-old babysitter was home alone with a one-year-old child on Jan. 16.
PORTAGE COUNTY – One person has died following a head-on collision near Rudolph.
On Jan. 15, shortly after 8 a.m., the Wood County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a two vehicle crash on State Highway 13/34 at County Line Road, which was located in Portage County.
“Initial investigation indicates that an unidentified northbound pickup truck was turning onto County Line Road from STH 13/14. A dump truck driven by a 52-year-old male, also traveling northbound, slowed for the turning pickup truck, lost control of the dump truck and crossed the center line, striking a southbound vehicle driven by a 36-year-old female. The 36-year-old female succumbed to her injuries on scene. The male dump truck driver did not appear to be injured,” a Portage County Sheriff’s release stated.
