No planning for Cyclone Tauktae in Goa; CM should share responsibility: Michael Lobo ANI | Updated: May 20, 2021 17:05 IST
Panaji (Goa) [India], May 20 (ANI): Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant should share the responsibility for disaster relief with his ministers, said Ports Minister Michael Lobo on Thursday, hitting out at the government over Cyclone Tauktae.
Speaking to ANI, Lobo further hit out at his own government, saying there was no planning to brace for the cyclone that has caused a state-wide power outage for the fourth consecutive day today. The Chief Minister should stop taking all the responsibility for disaster relief and share responsibility with his Ministers. There was no planning to handle the cyclone Tauktae which hit Goa recently, Lobo said.

The government machinery in Goa has put in place necessary measures to tackle the situation in view of the warning about cyclone Tauktae, officials said on Saturday. As per the India Meteorological Department s (IMD) prediction, Konkan and Goa are expected to receive heavy to very heavy rainfall on May 15 and 16 as the weather condition is very likely to intensify into cyclonic storm Tauktae.

The disaster management response forces led by the respective collectors, held meetings on Friday to check the preparedness to face Cyclone Tauktae.

PANAJI: The Goa government on Tuesday decided to bring non-essential services, including restaurants, under the ambit of the COVID-19 induced restrictions in the state which will remain in force till May 10.
Modifying the previous order issued by the state government on the extent of the restrictions, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told reporters that non-essential services will remain closed keeping in mind the sentiments of the people .
