HOT PORT NEWS from GAC Revision of number of persons onboard pleasure craft Monday, May 10, 2021, Singapore This Port Marine Circular updates the number of persons allowed onboard pleasure craft from 8 May to 30 May 2021. All pleasure craft operators, owners and masters are reminded to ensure that they comply with the measures stipulated in the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020, and implement these measures in relation to persons boarding and on the craft. These measures include implementing contact tracing procedures such as TraceTogether-only SafeEntry (TT-only SE) for all persons who board the pleasure craft. If TT-only SE is not implemented, the craft owner/operator/master must maintain a record of the passenger and crew manifest. Persons onboard should be encouraged to install and use the TraceTogether application or token. FueLNG wraps up Singapore’s first oil tanker LNG bunkering May 7, 2021, by Adnan Bajic FueLNG, together with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), has completed Singapore’s first bunkering of an LNG-fuelled oil tanker. Courtesy of MPA FueLNG, a joint venture between Keppel Offshore & Marine and Shell Eastern Petroleum, completed the gas-up and cool down operation for the LNG-powered oil tanker Pacific Emerald. The company said in its statement that it also transferred 3,000 cubic meters of LNG from FueLNG Bellina, Singapore’s first LNG bunkering vessel. Pacific Emerald is the first of 10 newbuild Aframax tankers chartered by Shell Tankers Singapore from Sinokor Petrochemical.

Singapore crew change ban extended to more countries May 7, 2021, by Naida Hakirevic After prohibiting crew change for seafarers with recent travel history to COVID-stricken India, Singapore has announced similar measures for those arriving from countries surrounding India. As informed, the ban concerns “crew with recent travel history to Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka within the last 21 days preceding arrival to Singapore”. This includes sign-on crew travelling to Singapore by flight as well as sign-off crew from vessels that have called at Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. In addition, the ban applies to sign-on crew transiting Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka on their connecting flights to Singapore.

Singapore completes first ship-to-ship bunkering of LNG-fuelled oil tanker

SINGAPORE - The country’s efforts to become a LNG bunkering hub have taken a major step forward after around 3,000 cubic m of liquefied natural gas were transferred from a vessel to an oil tanker in the Port of Singapore. The process – a first here – involved the bunkering vessel FueLNG Bellina completing the gas-up and cool-down operation  to the LNG-powered Pacific Emerald, one of 10 similar tankers chartered by Shell Tankers Singapore.  Another 30 to 50 of such ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operations will be undertaken by the same players this year, noted the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and FueLNG, which completed the bunkering on Friday (May 7).
