Updated Mar 10, 2021;
Three veteran NJ Transit bus employees, who served for decades, died from complications due to the coronavirus, officials said.
Carlos Martinez worked as a bus operator for more than 20 years, primarily on the Route 139 Line between Marlboro and the Port Authority Bus Terminal, said Kevin Corbett, NJ Transit CEO, who made the announcement at Wednesday board of directors meeting.
Martinez, 58, of Lakewood, worked out of the Howell Garage, said Jim Smith a spokesman.
Cynthia Johnson, 60, of Plainfield, was a bus operator for 35 years and also worked primarily at the Howell Garage, Smith said. She drove on routes along the busy Route 9 corridor to and from the Port Authority.
