The first major snowstorm of the season left 10 inches in Central Park and more than a foot in some places. Few problems were reported, but drivers are urged to stay off the roads today.
Nearly 40 inches of snow was dumped on Binghamton, New York, as of Thursday morning, with widespread reports of snowfall over 3 feet in Broome County. A National Weather Service spokesperson said the storm sets a new two-day snowfall record.
The overnight snowfall in New York City eclipsed the entire amount recorded for all of last winter. There was just 4.8 inches of snow tallied in New York City last year.

A nor easter is still blanketing New Jersey this morning as strong winds and snow create dangerous driving conditions through the tri-state area.
As of this morning at 5:30 AM, snow accumulations total anywhere between 8-10 inches, with some areas receiving less, and the snow is expected to continue until at least 1 PM today.
High winds and low temperatures are causing dangerous driving conditions and people are being warned not to drive unless it s an emergency. Wind chill temperatures make it feel like it s in the single digits, so be sure to bundle up when you do go out to clean your car or shovel your walkway and driveway today.

Consider the 2021 budget some bitter icing on the Port Authority’s 100th birthday cake.
Officials said the bi-state authority that was created in 1921 will lose $1.7 billion in revenue by the end of the year as commissioners approved a $7.3 billion austerity budget for 2021 on Thursday. Similar to other transportation agencies in the nation, declining revenues due to dropping passenger traffic caused by the coronavirus are to blame.
