Port Dover has it’s Citizen Of The Year. The Maple Leaf has given Meika Matthews the prestigious honour. Matthews is well known not just in Port Dover but Norfolk as a whole, from having her hands in multiple projects to better the entire county. Last year she took on a big project which helped multiple Port Dover businesses – Dover Rocks Boxes. This saw Matthews organize boxes of items from area stores to deliver to residents keeping a steady stream of income going to these businesses during lockdowns and other COVID-19 related restrictions. Over $111,000 went to local businesses. On top of that, during one campaign, the program provided an option for people to donate to the Port Dover Harbour Museum, another location highly affected by COVID-19 restrictions.
