The International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Inter-society) has said that the Nigerian Army allegedly arrested and detained over 400 Oyigbo residents in Rivers State, all Christians and mostly Igbo citizens. The human rights group said out of the 400 or more, 150 have been discovered to be held indefinitely and incommunicado in secret Army and police dungeons located in Abuja, FCT, without court trial. The Intersociety Chairman, Mr Emeka Umeagbalasi said in a statement, yesterday, that “52 defenceless Oyigbo residents, all Christian Igbos, were recently rescued and their release secured through three different courts and four processes in Niger State.

COVID-19: Necessary Protocols Put In Place For Travellers – FAAN

  The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured travellers that all necessary protocols have been put in place to avoid the spread of COVID-19, even as some countries have entered the second wave of the pandemic. In a statement by General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Yakubu Henrietta, “We have also put in place the necessary infrastructure to aid compliance with stipulated protocols on COVID-19”.  She notified air travellers and other airport users that her network of airports across the country is fully prepared for the usual surge in passenger traffic that is the norm during the season. In preparation for the season and beyond, “we have beefed up security at all our airports, especially the major international gateways in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano.
