There are currently two patients receiving treatment at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe, while a single patient is at UHG in the city. Of the three patients, two are being treated in intensive care. It’s a considerable drop from this day last week, when there were nine patients with the virus in Galway’s hospitals. It comes as nationally, the number of Covid patients in hospital has fallen to 99 – the first time it’s been below 100 since last September.

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Four patients are being treated for COVID-19 at Galway’s public hospitals today. Three patients are being treated at UHG with one patient receiving care at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe. Two patients are in the critical care unit at UHG, with no COVID-19 patients at the ICU in Portiuncula Hospital today. It comes as 19 more COVID-19 testing centres for asymptomatic cases will be open today. Four new facilities will be launched in Louth, Dublin, Laois and Longford while the centre at Galway Airport remains in operation until this evening. The HSE has detected 2,300 cases nationwide as part of the walk-in drive.

There are three Coronavirus patients in intensive care at UHG today and none in the ICU at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe. That’s compared to six between both hospitals this time last week. Overall, there are nine COVID-19 patients being treated in the city and county today, with seven at UHG and two at Portiuncula Hospital – a drop of six on last Thursday. Nationally, 122 COVID-19 patients were being treated in public hospitals last night – the lowest figure in over seven months.

There are 15 patients at UHG and Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe today – that’s a drop of four compared to the figure for yesterday. Nine patients with the virus are being treated at UHG, of whom five are in ICU. While there are a further six patients at Portiuncula, with a single patient in intensive care. Nationally, there are 136 patients being treated for Covid-19, with 44 in ICU.
