/CNW/ - Porsche is celebrating the 25th birthday of its roadster family with a special anniversary model: the 2021 Boxster 25 years. Based on the 718 Boxster.
• The German carmaker has announced a limited-edition of 1250 units worldwide.
• Only a select few are marked for South Africa.
In 2021, the German carmaker is marking the Boxster s 25th anniversary by making available a limited-edition version called the Boxster 25 years.
It is based on the GTS 4.0 model which is powered by a 4.0-litre six-cylinder boxer engine with 294kW.
Only 1250 units will be available worldwide, with confirmation that limited units are destined for South Africa in the third quarter of 2021.
The Boxster 25 years has a starting of R1 660 000 and is fitted with a seven-speed PDK transmission as standard. A three-year Drive Plan is included.
Porsche is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its Boxster series with a special edition aptly named ‘Boxster 25’.
The open top model is exclusive for the North American market and features various design elements used by the original Boxster concept car that was presented to the world at the Detroit Auto Show in 1993. Most notably, the Boxster 25 features copper-like paint on the front and side air intakes, the 20-inch alloy wheels, and the special ‘Boxster 25’ badge found at the rear. Exterior color options available include GT Silver metallic, Jet Black Metallic, and Carrara White Metallic.
Porsche has continued the special touches in the cabin where Bordeaux Red leather is featured extensively. The folding softtop is also made from a red-colored fabric and the car lands as standard with brushed aluminum accents, 14-way electrically adjustable sports seats, door sill trims with ‘Boxster 25’ lettering and a heated GT multifunction sport leather steering wheel. It may sound hard to believe but it s been 25 years since the original 986 Porsche Boxster hit the pavement. Although it has retained its mid-engine, two-seater formula the entire time, many other things have changed. To celebrate the occasion, Porsche has just revealed a special edition anniversary model collectors and Porsche fans in general will highly desire.
Meet the very appropriately named Porsche 718 Boxster 25. Although it s a styling package only, designers took inspiration from the original Boxster concept that debuted at the 1993 Detroit Auto Show. Painted in GT Silver Metallic (Deep Black Metallic and Carrera White Metallic are also offered), Porsche is paying tribute to that original Boxster concept with the copper-like Neodyme color used on the front apron, side air intakes, Porsche lettering, and the two-tone 20-inch alloy wheels.
