The identity of the deceased, aged around 50, could not be known immediately. The man was crossing the road when a pick-up van hit him around 7am, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital by one Rakib Hossain and on duty doctors declared him dead, inspector Bachchu Mia, in-charge of DMCH Police Outpost, said. Rakib initially claimed he was walking on the road at the time of the incident but police came to know that he was the pick-up van driver, Bachchu said adding they detained him for interrogation.

The deceased was identified as Rafeza Begum Rasheda, 35. Hailing from Madaripur, she used to live in a six-storey building in Kamrangirchar s Roni Market area with her husband and children. Deceased s sister Shahnaz Begum said Rasheda went to the rooftop with a quilt to dry it in the sun. While she was putting it out on the railing around 10am, a part of the railing collapsed and she fell.

3 killed in Mymensingh road accident Star Online Report Star Online Report Three passengers of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw were killed and two others critically injured in a road accident on Mymensingh-Netrakona road in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh today. The identities of the victims could not be known immediately. Md Borhan Uddin, officer-in-charge of Gouripur Police Station, said quoting locals that the accident took place around 9:00pm when the Netrakona-bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided with a sand-laden truck coming from the opposite direction at Beltoli area on the road. On information, police recovered the bodies of the deceased and took those to the local Shyamganj Highway Police Outpost, said the OC.
