Also on Monday, the Vice-Chancellor of   the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State, Professor Richard Kimbir,  said kidnappers attacked  the institution on Saturday night. In Kebbi State, the police said nine of their personnel were killed by bandits in the Sakaba Local Government Area of the state.

18 persons feared dead in Delta auto crashes

Head of operations, Delta State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Bakare Fatai Adesina, yesterday, confirmed the death of no fewer than 15 persons in an auto crash at Alifikede, near Agbor in Ika South Council of the state. The Guardian learnt that the fatal accident occurred about 2.15pm, as a luxurious bus ran into a Toyota Sienna car, which was plying one-way lane along the Asaba/Benin expressway. Eyewitness said five persons died on the spot, while men of the FRSC rushed other passengers, who sustained injuries to a nearby hospital where others passed away. When contacted, Head of Operations of the state command of FRSC, Bakare Fatai Adesina confirmed the accident, saying he was yet to get details.
