Two Chicagocops were shot early Monday as they broke up rowdy Fourth of July crowds setting off fireworks, police said.
A commander was shot in the foot and a sergeant grazed in the leg when shots rang out around 1:30 a.m. in the city’s West Side, Chicago police said in a statement.
Both officers were taken to a hospital, where they were listed in good condition, police told The Post Monday.
No arrests were made and investigators did not release a description of a suspect in the gunfire, which marked at least the 33rd time this year that Chicago cops had been wounded or targeted in a shooting, according to Police Superintendent David Brown.

One thing is clear, greater access to firearms does not equal greater public safety. Imagine if we were as focused on access to counselling as we are with access to carrying a gun, helping end gun violence means changing the choices people make people who are hurting without hope and think violence is the only means available to them. Law enforcement can do a lot, but we, as a community, have got to start valuing the lives and unequal opportunity that our cities live with every single day.
In a separate incident involving a large gathering, two Chicago police officers were dispersing a crowd on the city s West Side early Monday when someone in a group of people fired shots, striking both officers, police stated.
The shooting was reported at around 1:30 a.m. in the 100 block of North Long Avenue. A police commander was struck in the foot, and a sergeant was grazed in the leg, authorities said.
Large gatherings, particularly among teenagers, have been reported within recent months in the Loop, as well as incidents of scattered fights and vandalism. “I would just say this to encourage parents of these young people not to drop them off unsupervised by adults, Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said at the time. That would be helpful to us, as well as any and all who have programs for our young people to keep them engaged in healthy behavior.”

At least 150 people were killed by gun violence in more than 400 shootings across the country during the Fourth of July weekend as major cities nationwide confront a surge in violent crime, according to data compiled by the Gun Violence Archive.
The data, which includes the number of shooting incidents and gun violence victims nationally over a 72-hour period from Friday through Sunday, is still evolving and will be updated.
In New York, where gun violence has been rising to levels not seen in years, there were 26 victims from 21 shootings from Friday to Sunday, a decrease from the same period last year when 30 people were shot in 25 shootings, the New York Police Department said.
