Chakka jam today: Security tightened at border points near protest sites

New Delhi, Feb 06: Security at the city s border points near the three protest sites have been tightened by deploying extra forces and putting up multi-layered barricades, barbed wires and nails studded on the roads ahead of the proposed chakka jam by farmers protesting the Centre s three agri laws, police said on Friday.
Earlier in the day, Delhi Police Commissioner S N Shrivastava also held a meeting with the senior officers of the force and reviewed the security arrangements.
The police will also be monitoring content on the social media to keep a watch on those spreading rumours against the force, officials said.

Protesting farm unions will carry out a ‘chakka jam’ on Saturday to protest the Centre’s recent agriculture legislations. As part of their protest, they will block national and state highways between 12 pm and 3 pm throughout the country, barring the national capital.
A high alert has been declared in Delhi ahead o the chakka jam by farmers.Drones have been deployed a massive security cover is in place to ensure that a January 26 like situation doesn t arise. The farmer unions have however said that the chakka jam will not affect Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

An aerial view of farmers protest site at Ghazipur border. Farmers in various states on Feb 6 participated in the Chakka Jam to protest against new reforms in the agriculture sector aimed to boost their income and give them a wider market to sell their produce.
The three-hour-long nationwide chakka jam by protesting farmers was held on Saturday amid tight security, even as there was no such event in the national capital which was turned into a fortress with heavy security deployment by the Delhi Police, paramilitary and reserve forces personnel to prevent any untoward situation. The Delhi Police had also used drone cameras to keep a tight vigil at protest sites. Although, the impact of chakka jam was seen in other parts of the country including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Punjab and other places.
