London, Ont officer charged in death of woman held in police custody

  MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ONT. Ontario s Special Investigations Unit has charged a London police officer in connection with the death of 28-year-old Amanda Bolt. Bolt died in Nov. 2019 while in the custody of the London Police Service. According to the SIU, Bolt was arrested at her home on Nov. 2, 2019 and taken to police headquarters before being released, but Bolt was arrested again later the same day for breaching the conditions of her release and placed in a police cell. The next morning, she went into medical distress and was transported to hospital and placed on life support. Bolt died in hospital on Nov. 13, 2019.

Mar 2, 2021 8:10 AM By: TbNewsWatch.com Staff THUNDER BAY  The Thunder Bay Police Service officer who initiated the  Tree of Hope project has been nominated for a Police Association of Ontario Police Hero award. Constable Sharlene Bourdeau says I was surprised. Someone stopped me in the hallway Friday and said congratulations . I don t know who nominated me, but I m very honoured. Bourdeau spearheaded the project to raise funds to help solve the cases of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. For the last two years, trees in front of police headquarters on Balmoral Street have been illuminated with lights starting with a sacred ceremony in November in memory of the victims.
