Kyle police are investigating a false call about an active shooter

Kyle city officials say multiple homes were evacuated from their homes Wednesday after what authorities a now believe was a false call about an active shooter.  Authorities shortly after 4 p.m. Wednesday received a 911 call reporting that a person was hurting people inside a home at the 100 block of Brazos Lane in Kyle, a city in Hays County that is southwest of Austin, according to police.  Police said the caller told authorities that the assailant was also making threats to law enforcement.  Kyle city officials issued a shelter-in-place to residents in the area, and police evacuated homes that were in the immediate vicinity of the home that authorities were called to. Police did not say how many residents were evacuated.

Suspect wanted in fatal shooting at Fort Mill store turns himself in to police Feb. 23 FORT MILL, S.C. Fort Mill, SC The suspect in a fatal shooting outside a Fort Mill store has turned himself in, police said. Anquante El-Malik Lemel Watts, 23, was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon at the Fort Mill Police Department, said Police Chief Jeff Helms. Watts is charged with murder in the death of Sy Veon My Veon Howard, 25, of Lancaster, according to police records. Howard died Saturday. He was shot around 11:30 p.m. Friday in the parking lot of the Circle K store on U.S. 21, at the intersection of Sutton Road, police and York County Coroner Sabrina Gast said.

Cleveland responders receive lifesaving commendation

Cleveland Police Chief Jeff Shoemaker shared with the city council a letter of commendation for those involved.  “On Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021, officers were dispatched to an overdose at an apartment complex,” Shoemaker said. “Dispatch advised that a subject was unresponsive and not breathing. Officer Denton Vaughan arrived first and observed a mother, in the parking area, attempting to give CPR to her adult daughter. The daughter’s face and neck had turned blue, and her fingers and toes were bluish-purple. “The mother estimated that her daughter may have been down for about 30 minutes, in the near-freezing temperature,” Shoemaker said. “Officer Vaughan felt for a pulse, but could not locate one, and immediately took over CPR.
