We’re engaging MMDAs to enforce bye-laws to help fight COVID-19 – Police LISTEN JAN 31, 2021 The Police Service says it is engaging Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) across the country to help enforce by-laws on the wearing of nose mask. The adherence to the preventive protocols has gone down drastically per statistics by the Ghana Health Service. According to the GHS, non-adherence to the protocols has contributed significantly to the rise in active cases in the country. Ghana s current active case count stands at 4,665 cases per the latest update from the Ghana Health Service on Sunday, January 31, 2021. This, the police service is hoping the MMDAs will complement efforts in curbing the spread of the virus.

The incidents,which were recorded between December 7 and 9, 2020, occurred in Central, Greater Accra, Bono East, and Northern regions. The Director of the Police Public Affairs, Superintendent of Police (Supt)SheillaKessieAbayie-Buckman,who disclosed these in a statement,released to Ghanaian Times, in Accra, yesterday,said that the cases were under investigations. She said the Joint Operation Centre of the National Security Taskforce has recorded 61 electoral and post-electoral incidents, adding that 21 of the incidents were electoral violence of which six involved gunshots, resulting in the death of five people.
