L.A.’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program will pay your landlord 80 percent of your unpaid back-rent from April 1, 2020 thru today. However, you do have to get the cooperation of your landlord, who must agree to forgive the other 20 percent of what you owe.
The deadline for applying to the program comes at 11:59 p.m. tonight for most L.A. city and county residents. Long Beach residents have until May 12 to send in their applications.
Meanwhile, on the state level, there isn’t as much hope on the horizon.

The college graduate landed here in
early September, figuring schools in Mesa start as they do in most of the country â after Labor Day.
Negative: âI was too late. They start school here in August, and everyone had their hiring done by the time I got here,â she said with a laugh.
Her brother, Gil Damiani, worked for the Mesa Fire and Medical Department. He told his sister they were hiring.
âHe said, âYou have to be physically fit, but itâs a job where you really help the community.â I thought about it, since I was active in high school and college playing sports, the fact you help people â that was a good fit,â she reflected.
