Cairo: Oman today welcomed Morocco’s decision to normalise relations with Israel through a US-brokered agreement, and the kingdom’s renewed commitment to a two-state solution to the Palestinian problem.
“The Sultanate of Oman welcomes what the King Mohammed VI of sisterly Morocco announced in his phone contacts with US President Donald Trump and the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas,” the Omani Foreign Ministry said.
“We hope this will boost efforts for achieving comprehensive, fair and lasting peace in the Middle East,” it added.
Trump Thursday announced the Moroccan-Israeli agreement to normalise their ties.
Two-state solution
Following the announcement, the Moroccan monarch stressed in a phone call with Abbas Morocco’s commitment to the two-state solution, according to a royal court statement.
With less than a month left in office, President Trump’s administration is working hard to secure more normalization deals between Israel and regional governments.
