Secretary of State Anthony Blink announced on Tuesday that the United States will reopen its main consulate in Jerusalem – a move that will restore ties with the Palestinians, which the Trump administration has pushed down.
The consulate served for a long time as an autonomous office in charge of diplomatic relations with the Palestinians. But former President Donald Trump suspended his operations and placed them under the command of his ambassador to Israel when he moved the embassy to Jerusalem.

The United States has pledged $75 million in assistance to Palestinians in an effort to back in a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and promised to rally international support for Gaza after an 11-day conflict which left 260 people dead.
He also vowed to ensure Hamas did not benefit from humanitarian aid.
“This new assistance comes on top of significant support that the United States has recently committee and resumed to the Palestinian authority, the Palestinians, to different agencies and groups,” Mr Blinken said.
