March 16, 2021 FILLED with passion, a social worker from Brooke’s Point, Palawan proved that the virus cannot stop a heart who has committed to serve. Instead, it further ignited her desire to give back to her community. With a brave heart, she continued serving the people even in the midst of the pandemic. Marecar Gayamo works as a Municipal Link (Project Development Officer II) at the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Municipal Operations Office Bataraza, Palawan. After passing the licensure exam for social workers in 2015, she decided to join the government service. As a Municipal Link (ML), her tasks include coordination with key partner stakeholders to ensure efficient, relevant, and timely delivery of services for the 800 household beneficiaries in Bataraza. She is also in charge of monitoring the compliance of the households with the conditions set by the program.

Christmas food drop helps 100 needy families in Burnham and Highbridge Thousands of pounds worth of food was distributed to needy families across the Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge area on Christmas Eve thanks to local donations and a team of volunteer helpers. Highbridge’s Morland Community Hub oversaw the Christmas Eve food drop after receiving donations of food and gifts from local supermarkets, residents and businesses. Over 20 volunteers gathered on Thursday night to distribute the food to the grateful families using a fleet of cars and mobility scooters. The Morland Community Hub’s Project Development Officer, Jane Macpherson, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We are hugely grateful for the many generous donations over the last few days which include Great Western Rail, Home Farm Holiday Park, M&S, Lidl, Aldi, Asda, plus the Argos Distribution Centre in Bridgwater in addition to many kind individuals.”
