BRATTLEBORO â Public feedback is shaping a scoping study aimed at adding bicycle lanes along Western Avenue on Route 9 for a safer experience.
At a meeting held remotely Monday, Brattleboro Planning Director Sue Fillion said the project started in the fall with state funding and covers Route 9 from Main Street up to the Exit 2 interchange on Interstate 91.
âI think this is awesome,â said Dave Cohen, director and founder of VBike, which seeks to increase the number of bicyclists in Vermont by making biking accessible in a variety of ways.
Monday marked the second public meeting to solicit feedback. At a meeting in December, the project garnered a lot of support from the community.

BRATTLEBORO â With the weather forecast calling for more than an inch of rain Thursday, Brattleboro Town Manager Peter Elwell is warning town residents to be prepared for some street flooding.
âThe meteorologists are warning us of very heavy, extremely heavy rain, from Christmas Eve into Christmas morning,â said Elwell, during Tuesday nightâs Select Board meeting.
According to the National Weather Service, Brattleboro and the region could get one to two inches of rain overnight into Friday, with close to another inch of rain on Christmas day.
âHeavy rain may fall on a deep primed snowpack leading to the melt increasing,â states a NWS warning. âFlows in rivers may increase quickly and reach critical levels.â
