Austin hostage tragedy – Doc Bharat Narumanchi ‘abused “hapless” wife’ in custody battle before killing pediatrician

A DOCTOR with terminal cancer who killed an Austin pediatrician in a murder-suicide on Tuesday had abused his ex-wife and called her “hapless,” according to court filings.
Dr Bharat Narumanchi was charged with domestic abuse of his ex-wife in Hawaii in 2012, the Austin American-Statesman reported on Wednesday.

A DOCTOR suspected of shooting dead a pediatrician in an apparent murder-suicide was terminally ill and had returned to Texas to be with family following his diagnosis, a colleague claims.
Dr Bharat Narumanchi, who was stricken with cancer, allegedly took Dr Katherine Lindley Dodson hostage at Children’s Medical Group in Austin, and killed her and himself after a six-hour-long standoff, according to cops.

OREGON, USA Oregon s Vaccine Advisory Committee is poised to send its final priority recommendations to Gov. Kate Brown s office.
After nearly a month of meetings, the 27 committee members met Thursday and voted on a list of groups they want vaccinated first after health care workers, educators and seniors. We re prioritizing hundreds of thousands of people, which far outstrips the supply of vaccine, said member Laurie Skokan of Providence Health & Services. It could create negativity and additional mistrust in the sense they may have been prioritized but don t have access.

A terminally ill physician stormed into a pediatrician’s Austin, Texas office Monday afternoon with “numerous guns” and killed Dr. Katherine Lindley Dodson after a lengthy standoff with police before taking his own life.
Police are still trying to determine what connection, if any, suspect Bharat Narumanchi who had last practiced in California had with Dodson, 43, or why he wanted to target the Children’s Medical Group office.
Austin Police Lt. Jeff Greenwalt said authorities received a call around 4:30 p.m. Monday about a man who had entered the medical office with a gun and taken numerous hostages.

Leaders from the Portland area’s four largest hospital systems celebrated the opening Wednesday of the Portland area’s first mass COVID-19 vaccination site at the Oregon Convention Center in Northeast Portland.
The site held a soft open Wednesday for about 1,500 healthcare workers and others in Phase 1a of the vaccine rollout who are eligible to be immunized against COVID-19. The site plans to start vaccinating about 2,000 childcare, preschool and K-12 workers per day.
