Old State Farm Building Briefly Eyed as a Potential School Site, but Location Difficult Feb 01, 2021 at 11:17 am by WGNS
The Rutherford County Schools has had a small amount of interest in turning the old State Farm building into a school building. The structure is across the street from SportsCom at the intersection of Memorial Boulevard and DeJarnette Lane.
Assistant Superintendent Trey Lee stated…
Lee said that the location of the building makes it less attractive because it would equal a total of five schools, both public and private, within 1.6 miles of each other.
To further add to the potential zoning issue of turning the old State Farm building into a school, there are three more schools just 2.3 miles away from the address of the structure.

Somerset Christian School is beginning the new year with new leadership.
Following the retirement of John Hale after 15 of the schoolâs 17 years, Dr. Ron Gleaves began his tenure as principal on Monday as classes resumed for the Spring semester.
Dr. Gleaves comes to Somerset from Campbellsville, where he had been commuting to serve as administrator at Providence Christian Academy in Georgetown. He first learned about the SCS position more than two years ago, after he called about a possible Bible-teaching position. When Hale learned Gleaves was working on his doctorate, the principal asked if heâd be interested in an administratorâs position instead â explaining that he planned to retire.
