Patti Sapone | NJ Advance Media Facebook Share Public health officials on Saturday reported 775 newly identified cases of COVID-19 in Oregon and the numbers continue to show a trend of declining infections. Over the past two weeks, new known infections have dropped 26% and hospitalizations have fallen 24% meaning a bump in cases after the Christmas and New Year’s holidays is over. Deaths, however, continue to rise. They typically lag a few weeks behind surges in new infections because it takes time for the coronavirus to take its deadly toll. The state on Saturday reported 13 new COVID-19 deaths. Over the past two weeks, the death rate has increased 25%.

Oregon reports 775 new COVID-19 cases as death toll nears 1,900 KATU Staff © Provided by KATU Portland The Oregon Health Authority reported 775 new COVID-19 cases and 13 new deaths on Saturday, raising the state s totals to 137,600 cases and 1,877 deaths since the pandemic began. As vaccination efforts continue in the state, health officials reported that 15,461 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations were added to the state immunization registry. According to the OHA, Oregon has now administered a cumulative total of 285,914 first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccines.  Cases and deaths The newly reported cases of the virus were found in the following counties: Baker (2), Benton (25), Clackamas (51), Columbia (7), Coos (12), Crook (7), Deschutes (43), Douglas (10), Gilliam (1), Harney (1), Hood River (2), Jackson (49), Jefferson (7), Josephine (7), Klamath (19), Lake (4), Lane (75), Lincoln (8), Linn (15), Malheur (9), Marion (94), Morrow (1), Multnomah (112

(KTVZ)  COVID-19 has claimed eight more lives in Oregon, including Crook County s eighth death, raising the state’s death toll to 1,558, the Oregon Health Authority reported Wednesday. OHA also reported 764 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19 as of 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, bringing the state total to 120,223 cases. Wednesday’s case count is lower than anticipated because a server outage led to unscheduled database downtime Tuesday, OHA said. In addition, Wednesday’s Tableau updates will not include electronic laboratory reporting information from Tuesday. The agency said, We anticipate that electronic laboratory reporting information will be updated tomorrow (Thursday).
