The Oregon Health Authority on Sunday reported 257 new coronavirus cases and two COVID-19 deaths.
The new figures come as Multnomah County and other counties across the state are easing coronavirus restrictions as vaccination rates rise. Multnomah County moved from “high risk” to “lower risk” on Thursday, allowing restaurants, bars and gyms to expand capacity and enabling the Blazers to welcome 8,050 fans to the Moda Center for Saturday’s 20-point playoff win over the Denver Nuggets.
Oregon is now averaging fewer than 400 cases a day for the first time since early April. But while the state has cut its spring peak in half, Oregon’s daily cases remain stubbornly high compared to the rest of the nation.
